Want Your Website to Turn Heads?
Whenever you walk into a room, you want your self-confidence to ensure a ‘ta-dum’ effect. Your website should be the same! With that crisp image of confidence in mind, today we’re going to talk about just that … sharp copy, intuitive/responsive design and user-functionality to make sure your website has killer content, and aesthetically amazing design and turns heads of those you want to reign in. Truthfully, the very best websites out there are designed and written with the user’s perspective in mind. At. All. Times.
“It doesn’t matter how many times I have to click, as long as each click is a mindless, unambiguous choice.” ~ Steve Krug, UI Professional
So, as a quick summary of what you will need to ensure is implemented on your website, here’s a list you’ll want to keep close and reference often …
- Clear navigation;
- Conversational language with only relevant information;
- Home page as a “to-the-point” summary;
- Branding should be clear and forefront at all times;
- Include visuals (branded and not clipart) to help tell your story;
- Include trust building content;
- Include a call-to-action on nearly every page;
- Keep your forms simple and to the point;
- Use a straight-forward, responsive layout;
- Apply your SEO with best practices in mind; and
- Always, ALWAYS keep your website up to date.
Attracting a potential customer/client is hard enough. Grabbing their interest and retaining them is even more difficult. It’s important to design your website so that the user frustration is kept to a minimum, thereby maximizing customer retention.
The reason I created you that mini-reference list is because in most cases, your visitors so not want “spin” and nobody likes clutter. They are expecting honesty, integrity and transparency. They are craving fast-action and the facts so that they can make a quick, educated decisions. So, leave out the hype and place all your cards on the table. Keep things clean, simple and organized, and let your visitors draw their own conclusions. Make sure you are delivering true value, on every page … however, don’t leave out your personality.
