Have You Started Working on Your Plan for Next Year Yet?
I know you might be thinking, HOLY LADY it’s only September. But before you know it, we will be rolling into the new year! Which is why it’s best that you start planning now before 2020 creeps up on you!
In the online entrepreneurship world, being one step ahead is key! And as we know from experience, things move fast in the business world, there is always something new to learn, implement, try, and test out.
Before you start planning …
As you begin to strategize for 2020, don’t forget to take a moment to reflect on your 2019. It is just as important to analyze what worked well and what didn’t as this will inform your focus points for you moving forward.
Check out more on how to get started on the right foot here.
During this past year, with just a few short months left to go, your business has most likely gone through some crazy ups and downs. It is important to assess what sort of direction you want to take it in 2020.
- What changes need to be had;
- What you want to do going to grow as a business;
- What you want to do to grow as a business owner;
- What lessons can be learnt from your weaker moments;
- What investments did you make in your business that succeeded; and
- What investments do you want to make in yourself for the upcoming year.
Setting your 2020 goals …
As we move into a fresh new year, it’s important that you set an intentional list of what you would like to achieve for your business moving forward. Set yourself some benchmarks and goals. When doing this, try to be as specific as possible as well as realistic as possible. Going from one year to the next, growth is a requirement when it comes to business, therefore it is important to truly evaluate how you will continue growth onto 2020. Vital to growth in your business, is to always be investing in your business. Take some time – even if just 20-30 minutes a day – to make a list of some investments you would like to make and then compare this with the time you have allotted for yourself as well as your budget. When possible, you should always remember to set aside funds for future investments!

Pay attention to growing A.I. trends …
Something you should be paying attention to going into 2020 is the immense rise of voice-enabled devices! (And yes, we just talked about this recently so consider this a re-cap due to its importance!) So, if you felt 2019 was telling of something in the realm of technology, it definitely would have been popularity of A.I. trends. Whether it be the Amazon Echo, Google Home or Apple’s Siri, the popularity of smart, interactive devices doesn’t seem to be slowing down. In fact, this type of voice recognition technology is only getting better. So, moving forward with this type of technology is something I would suggest thinking about and perhaps adding to your day to make your productivity flow smoother!
Another thing so take note of is the rise of chatbot usage. Let me be frank and tell you that they are here to stay and will play an even bigger role in 2020. Truthfully, there are tons of reasons why you should be using chatbots. Let me share some … Chatbots provide fast automated responses (which is what everyone wants) and this helps you save time, both for yourself and your potential clients, as now they don’t have to wait hours – or even days — before getting their answer(s). This in return also provides a huge benefit of excellent and more efficient customer service. Since Chatbots are cheaper to implement and use as opposed to hiring a physical human being to do the job, you will be saving money by using them! Essentially, chatbots contribute to growing the amount of people you can serve while doing it efficiently as possible.
Along with smart devices and chatbot trends, if you haven’t yet taken advantage of video for your business, then I highly suggest you do exactly that in 2020. It’s scary, I know. I as well have yet to jump on this bandwagon but with Pinterest video pins, YouTube, vlogs, IGTV and Facebook Watch, there is a clear indication that the importance of video isn’t slowing down with more and more platforms embracing it on a monthly basis. Getting personal with your audience is exactly the type of engagement they are looking for from your business. They desire a true connection. And rightfully so!
“By 2022, online videos will make up more than 82% of all consumer internet traffic – 15 times higher than it was in 2017.” (Cisco)
It’s time to put things into action …
I understand you may be feeling overwhelmed with your long list of goals for 2020. But you don’t have to be! Just make things simple for yourself by breaking your goals into 90-day chunks. Whether this be digitally or on paper. Trust me, this will save you time in the end AND make your workflow easier as you can plan around what you’ve planned for yourself. Plus, it’s always great to see your year visually planned out so you can look at your goals as a reminder of what you are working towards and to keep you laser focused.
Write your goals down in detail and read your list of goals everyday. ~ Jack Canfield
With all that being said, know that I am too, going to go through this entire process! In fact, I am already well on my way and have some “untangling” surprises coming your way in the near future … even before 2020 rolls around!
So, what are you waiting for? Get planning!

Struck with a love for #AllThings creative at a very young age, Crystal dreamed of a life fueled by her passion for creating and bringing the stories and images in her mind into reality.
As she worked toward her dreams, she earned a diploma as a Computer Applications Specialist then another in Graphic Design and from there began to develop her extensive background in multimedia and the arts. She began her worked in the magazine industry as a layout designer and had a succession of design jobs thereafter. It was her role as a graphic/web designer that gave her the first real glimpse of her future. Soon she began a side job as a freelance designer while keeping one foot in the corporate world. A spark was lit! She turned her freelance gig into a full-time business combining design work with her other passion: creating organization from virtual chaos.
Crystal is one of the most organized individuals on the planet. She is by all means a Zen master of her crafts. She excels at helping others become “untangled” and provides her clients with tools to run their businesses smoothly while she takes care of the details behind the scenes.
