Why Some Brands Are More Fun Than Others …
Have you ever watched an ad on YouTube and even after the required few seconds they make you watch (#goodgrief) you find yourself chuckling at the end? I personally love watching ads from the Super Bowl as they always seem to have the most hilarious content of all! It is a fact that more people watch the ads than the actual game. Here’s a collection of the top 10 best ads from this past season…
Most people believe that having a fun brand is all in the entertainment aspect. But you can actually infuse brand personality in many areas of your business. For example: Welly’s bandages. Instead of calling them “bandages”, they have given them a new name — bravery badges.
By simply changing how you refer to your actual product (or service) can make your brand way the heck more fun and truly stand out from the crowd.
Your personal brand is what differentiates you from others.

As a service-based business — like us at Virtually Untangled — you can apply this to your package deals/offerings. While you want to make sure what you provide is clear, naming your services (or products) with catchy names can easily bring some personality to your brand. Just the other day, I was looking at one of my client’s offerings and she had some of the best names … They were specific but fun!
You want to be more than just another service provider but a result generator.
One of the biggest mistakes I have seen others make is that they try to create cutesy fun names for what they do. Instead of this being effective like Welly’s bravery badges, it confuses them as the audience has no idea what a cheerleader inbox navigator does. (Believe it or not, but this is what someone called themselves as a customer service inbox representative.) I am sure you can imagine how confusing that can be. So, make your title as clear as possible so as your ideal client is searching the virtual globe for you — they can find you!

And lastly (but you knew this was coming!) you can be damn right I am going to bring up graphics with that portion of our business being our secret sauce!
Depending on your brand colors and visual style, you can easily infuse some excitement with photography or other visual elements that will help you psychological convey those fun vibes we are all eager to give off!
Moving back to the Welly’s bandages example, it works so well because of the experience around the product. Imagine receiving a bravery badge over a normal bandage. Especially for kids, (or us adults who are kids at heart!) it can add some light to the situation. It is a great way to add some fun back to bandages. It leads to the question …
How can you add more fun to the experience you provide in your business?
It could be as easy as …
- Creating your own GIFs as opposed to using mainstream ones
- Sending out a coffee mug after having a coffee date with someone
- Sending a video of you dancing after a client accomplishes a goal
These are just a few easy-peasy ways that you can make the experience with you fun. Some cost as much as your time and I am sure it will leave a favorable impression on the person it encounters along the way. The little thoughts truly do matter!
If you are finding that your brand is just a bit too much on the blah side, let’s chat.
We can strengthen your copy, your visuals, or your brand as a whole in order to convey the fun brand you are wanting to share with the world! Oftentimes, we just need to spruce it up to get it to exactly where we want it to go.
