Why is Passion a Key Ingredient?
Today’s topic is a lot more “real-feel” than what you’ve been reading on my blog so far …. discussing technical items and whatnot in this ever-growing field. Today I want to touch base on the graphic designer side of my personality as it has played a huge role in my life since day one of picking up a crayon as a young girl to the artistic woman I am today. I truly feel that to be successful, the first thing to do is fall in love with your work. Like really in love. Not just, “I think I could like this and make it work”, type of feeling. We don’t all get the luxury of being in love with our careers but those that do will understand where I’m going with this …!
To me, passion is the key ingredient to being a successful entrepreneur, not the fancy paper framed in your office. Finding your passion isn’t about careers and money. It’s about finding your authentic self. The one you’ve buried beneath other people’s needs. I am passionate about many things … painting and drawing, writing, reading soulful-inspired novels, nature, animals (especially my kitties), helping people and gourmet cooking. My list could honestly go on forever. But what’s dearest to my heart is creativity and a true love for graphic design.
When I become inspired I tend to brainstorm ideas with all different types of mediums. Because I feel exploration creates pure greatness and love the idea that one medium may inspire another. I do it because the passion inside me drives it … and because it’s fun and I want to! I don’t create this way to impress anyone else. Aspiring designers just like myself, simply create at will.
So, when time allows you to spend your time doing exactly what you want to do, do you squander it away? Of course not. Your free time is the last thing you want to waste. Passion leads to productivity no matter what your personal work style. I have never felt that I’m “slaving away” when I’m executing a personal project or even when I’m working on something for a client, because in the end, I’m designing and that alone motivates me to keep creating. It inspires gratitude and makes me happy from the inside out.
When your career is something you truly enjoy, your life outside of work will be influenced positively as well. When stress is not tagging along after a rough day at the office, life at home is just the way it should be … free of work-induced stress! You will absolutely love that feeling you get from inspiring someone else which I think is absolutely and incredibly exhilarating! When everyone around you sees you pursuing a career you enjoy, it’s contagious.
Daily I read content created by others who have transformed their true passion(s) into a full-time (or perhaps even just part-time) career. They’re pursuing their passion which makes me want to continue to do the same. By doing what you really truly love to do, you will not be the only person benefiting from it, as those around you will clearly see what a difference a passion can make in your life.
I’d like to end with a heartful quote by Maya Angelou …
My mission in life is not merely to survive but to thrive and do so with ...
... some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.

Crystal Kordalchuk
Crystal is an artist, a writer, an organizer, a dreamer, a doer, and down-right proud of it NERD!.
Struck with a love for #AllThings creative at a very young age, Crystal dreamed of a life fueled by her passion for creating and bringing the stories and images in her mind into reality.
As she worked toward her dreams, she earned a diploma as a Computer Applications Specialist then another in Graphic Design and from there began to develop her extensive background in multimedia and the arts. She began her worked in the magazine industry as a layout designer and had a succession of design jobs thereafter. It was her role as a graphic/web designer that gave her the first real glimpse of her future. Soon she began a side job as a freelance designer while keeping one foot in the corporate world. A spark was lit! She turned her freelance gig into a full-time business combining design work with her other passion: creating organization from virtual chaos.
Crystal is one of the most organized individuals on the planet. She is by all means a Zen master of her crafts. She excels at helping others become “untangled” and provides her clients with tools to run their businesses smoothly while she takes care of the details behind the scenes. Thus Virtually Untangled was born. A successful business where her work as a top notch creative in graphic and web — with a twist of virtual assistant — married into one amazing place where clients can come with their virtual messes and become magically untangled. Crystal can always make sense of even the most unorganized chaos and offers a virtual detox of order and peace, so her clients can get busy doing the work that they love the most.
