Val Johnston’s Success Story …

For the last 50+ years, I have been a pioneer in the hockey and power-skating community here in Winnipeg. I like to refer to myself as a “hockey technician”, not a power-skating teacher. By applying my competitive figure skating knowledge to the sport of hockey, this has led me to develop a unique and time-tested approach to teaching every age group, from children to adults, how to better their skating ability.

Young or old, male or female, elite or beginner … I truly feel that hockey can be for anyone and everyone!

This is a story built around hockey …

Along with my long history in the field and ambitious sports ability, I have happily achieved a long list of career activities which have included sales, advertising and promotions which helped her along fun-filled adventure building the Dragon Lady Hockey School. Most notably, I had the pleasure of working hand-in-hand within Winnipeg’s volunteer community with establishments such as: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Winnipeg, the Variety Children’s Charity, the ALS Society of Canada, the Winnipeg Jets Fund Campaign, the Rainbow Society (now the Dream Factory), the Manitoba Firefighters Burn Fund, the Manitoba Schizophrenia Society and the Heart Foundation of Canada as well as many others.

The Dragon Lady is a true staple of Winnipeg's professional and volunteer community.
We couldn't have accomplished our goals without her.

From entrepreneurial endeavor, including the Dragon Lady Hockey School, to training individuals in various workshops and coordinating programs throughout Winnipeg and the Interlake area, I truly feel as though I have pretty much seen and done it all. Including having the privileged of working with many NHL players over the years, in improving their game performance.

After a hiatus a few years back (due to health issues), I, the Dragon Lady is back in the Manitoba scene! My aim is to provide excellence in affordable instruction for individuals of all ages who have a passion for hockey and removing all barriers for families and children of all abilities.

To find out more about my story and how I got back in the game after 15+ long years, check out my story here, on the Winnipeg Free Press (posted upon return date in 2015).

Crystal Kordalchuk

Crystal is an artist, a writer, an organizer, a dreamer, a doer, and down-right proud of it NERD!.

Struck with a love for #AllThings creative at a very young age, Crystal dreamed of a life fueled by her passion for creating and bringing the stories and images in her mind into reality.

As she worked toward her dreams, she earned a diploma as a Computer Applications Specialist then another in Graphic Design and from there began to develop her extensive background in multimedia and the arts. She began her worked in the magazine industry as a layout designer and had a succession of design jobs thereafter. It was her role as a graphic/web designer that gave her the first real glimpse of her future. Soon she began a side job as a freelance designer while keeping one foot in the corporate world. A spark was lit! She turned her freelance gig into a full-time business combining design work with her other passion: creating organization from virtual chaos.

Crystal is one of the most organized individuals on the planet. She is by all means a Zen master of her crafts. She excels at helping others become “untangled” and provides her clients with tools to run their businesses smoothly while she takes care of the details behind the scenes. Thus Virtually Untangled was born. A successful business where her work as a top notch creative in graphic and web — with a twist of virtual assistant — married into one amazing place where clients can come with their virtual messes and become magically untangled. Crystal can always make sense of even the most unorganized chaos and offers a virtual detox of order and peace, so her clients can get busy doing the work that they love the most.
