How the 5-Minute Rule Will Change the Way You Live …!

As Meerabelle Dey (writer) states, “If you think about it, it’s kinda funny that if we accomplish the little things in life, everything else in life seems to run smoother. We feel better about ourselves and our business, our relationships have more stability, our home life feels more pleasant to be in, we are healthier, less tired and are under a lot less stress (generally).”

I think this is solid proof that having good habits in place is the difference between things being a smooth-sailing adventure vs. a train wreck. Which brings me to today’s special blog post.

And yes, tried, tested n’ true straight from Virtually Untangled to you …

We’ve all been there … There is a super-pressing task that you know you need to start working on. But, it’s just sitting there, staring you right in the face. (*le sigh!)

But you just can’t start now. You know how much time it will take to make any significant process — and it’s quite frankly much more time than you’ve got right now. But things can be simpler than you’re making them out to be …

First off, you must get on the path of organization. You need start being more proactive and abide by what I like to call the “5-minute rule”. When a highly organized person thinks a task will take 5 minutes or less, they tend to complete it right away so that it doesn’t get added to the dreaded to do list or gets pushed off to the point where it never gets done. Organized individuals tend to avoid putting the “little things” off, so they have more time to focus on the big things.

This simple “5-minute rule” will make a huge difference in all aspects of your life.

So, force yourself if you must, to work on a simple task for just 5 minutes, with the understanding that you can put it away after the 5 minutes if you feel like it. However, more often than not, you’ll be motivated to keep going. And by conquering this psychological barrier of getting started, it gets your energy level up and the momentum flowing. And now you can work on said goal (or idea) past the 5-minute mark – completely guilt free!

You can’t always control how you feel. But you can always choose how you act. ~ Mel Robbins, Author and Speaker

If you’re struggling to find the motivation you need to get started and keep going, repeat after me:

It. Just. Takes. Five. Minutes.

So, remember … The very moment you have an instinct to act on a particular goal (or idea) you must physically move within 5 seconds or your brain will stop you.

5 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 – GO!

Crystal is an artist, a writer, an organizer, a dreamer, a doer, and down-right proud of it NERD!.

Struck with a love for #AllThings creative at a very young age, Crystal dreamed of a life fueled by her passion for creating and bringing the stories and images in her mind into reality.

As she worked toward her dreams, she earned a diploma as a Computer Applications Specialist then another in Graphic Design and from there began to develop her extensive background in multimedia and the arts. She began her worked in the magazine industry as a layout designer and had a succession of design jobs thereafter. It was her role as a graphic/web designer that gave her the first real glimpse of her future. Soon she began a side job as a freelance designer while keeping one foot in the corporate world. A spark was lit! She turned her freelance gig into a full-time business combining design work with her other passion: creating organization from virtual chaos.

Crystal is one of the most organized individuals on the planet. She is by all means a Zen master of her crafts. She excels at helping others become “untangled” and provides her clients with tools to run their businesses smoothly while she takes care of the details behind the scenes. Thus Virtually Untangled was born. A successful business where her work as a top notch creative in graphic and web — with a twist of virtual assistant — married into one amazing place where clients can come with their virtual messes and become magically untangled. Crystal can always make sense of even the most unorganized chaos and offers a virtual detox of order and peace, so her clients can get busy doing the work that they love the most.
