Do You Believe in Your Power?

Life sure comes a long way in the blink of an eye. Before we know it, that to-do list has gotten away from us and all of those “fun” projects we set out to do are now collecting dust … either on a shelf somewhere or within the spider webs of our minds. For me, it’s trying to keep up with my business, create new artwork for my Etsy shop, find time to work on my paintings (my half-started Medusa has been sitting on my art easel for 6 months now) and the box of craft projects I’ve been aching to make on top of the every day “must get done” stuff and finding time for myself. I’m the type of personality that I have all these great art ideas (gee, thanks Pinterest), craft ideas, business ideas, so on and so forth that I build up a huge amount of excitement, buy all the supplies then BANG, life happens and things get set aside. It got to the point that I started writing lists in my phone (yay to Evernote) of all the “fun”, business and everyday not so fun things I wanted to accomplish.

Has this helped me?

I will be honest, yes and no. The lists are a good reminder of my goals but then on tough days they are only a reminder of the goals/visions I have let slide.

And let me tell you, that mindset can be a bad road to get stuck on.

If you’re anything like me, you sometimes feel like you are letting yourself down when you can’t accomplish everything. Like you have taken on more than you can handle because you’re ambition if life is SO HUGE that you can’t contain it. So, whether you’re a creative individual, an entrepreneur, a DIY’er or a go-getter, let me tell you … all you set out to do in life is possible. No matter what you are feeling right now.

What has really helped me through the overload of my goals is journaling. I started writing daily (since 2015 – when life hit a rough patch) to find some peace of mind and an excuse to have some “me time”. Over the years this has helped me wind down a relax a bit. And as an added benefit, my through the roof anxiety is now almost non-existent. I’m an avid believer in personal and professional development and have always had an interest in writing so this has grown into many forms in my life. And on some days, I do what’s called a “brain dump” into my journal which is all the things I’d like to accomplish, books I’d love to read, pending goals and to also make sure to give myself credit when credit is due. Like things I have accomplished because that is very important too.

So, by now, you’re probably wondering where am I going with this …

My main goal for today is to reach out to those who dream of change or just really want to enjoy life. And for those who never step out of their comfort zone. I used to fall into all those categories. Then I realized how unhappy I was and that life is way too short to get stuck in that same rinse n’ repeat routines. When you finally discover the real “secret” to getting everything you want out of life it starts with one simple action. Facing your fears in at least one small way every single day. Scary, right? At first, it’s terrifying but eventually it will become a healthy addiction.

By facing your fears, you will finally be able to make your happiness a priority because your needs matter. Those dishes can wait a couple more hours. If you don’t value yourself and look out for yourself, you are just sabotaging yourself. So, take a moment (because you deserve it) and think about all those things you want to accomplish. Whether they are “fun” projects, things around the house or even goals for your business. And, be clear on why you want things to change.

Keep in mind, you don’t have to choose between life priorities and your dreams. You can do both. Someone very close to me once said, “swap the words ‘have to’ for ‘want to’ and you’ll see a difference in how you feel about everything.” And she was right. Chores and work projects started becoming less stressful and way more fun because I now ‘wanted’ to do them. I no longer felt like I ‘had to’. The same goes for that to-do list of “fun” projects you’ve had kicking around. Because they feel like a ‘to do’ and maybe like me are on a list somewhere, they don’t seem fun anymore. But a quick change in mindset and the world is your oyster. And for those of you who don’t like oysters then it’s a unicorn basking in the sun under a rainbow. Lol!

So, remember every morning when you wake up you are given an invitation to live a life of complete engagement and rich in adventure. Don’t turn it down. Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire! Why? Because you are worth it and happiness lives within the small things.

I’d like to end today’s post with a motivational poem by C. Larson as my hope is it brings reminder to you to believe in your own power as much as it has for me!

Promise yourself … to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all of your friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only the best, to work for only the best and to expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words but great deeds. To live in faith that the whole world is on your side so long as you are true to the best that is in you.

Struck with a love for #AllThings creative at a very young age, Crystal dreamed of a life fueled by her passion for creating and bringing the stories and images in her mind into reality.

As she worked toward her dreams, she earned a diploma as a Computer Applications Specialist then another in Graphic Design and from there began to develop her extensive background in multimedia and the arts. She began her worked in the magazine industry as a layout designer and had a succession of design jobs thereafter. It was her role as a graphic/web designer that gave her the first real glimpse of her future. Soon she began a side job as a freelance designer while keeping one foot in the corporate world. A spark was lit! She turned her freelance gig into a full-time business combining design work with her other passion: creating organization from virtual chaos.

Crystal is one of the most organized individuals on the planet. She is by all means a Zen master of her crafts. She excels at helping others become “untangled” and provides her clients with tools to run their businesses smoothly while she takes care of the details behind the scenes. Thus Virtually Untangled was born. A successful business where her work as a top notch creative in graphic and web — with a twist of virtual assistant — married into one amazing place where clients can come with their virtual messes and become magically untangled. Crystal can always make sense of even the most unorganized chaos and offers a virtual detox of order and peace, so her clients can get busy doing the work that they love the most.
